Definition
A class of blackletter types, characterised by angular broken strokes and elaborate capitals. Fraktur was widely used in German-speaking countries from the sixteenth century until the mid-twentieth century. The categories of blackletter include bastarda, fraktur, quadrata, rotunda and textura.
