Aldine

Definition

Relating to the publishing house operated in Venice by Aldus Manutius between 1494 and 1515. Most of Aldus's type — which included roman, italic and Greek — was cut by Francesco Griffo of Bologna. Type that resembles Griffo's, like typography that resembles Aldus's, is called Aldine.
